Wildlife Monographs - Puffins by Heather Angel
Published by Evans Mitchell Books
Evans Mitchell Books have added Puffins to their popular Wildlife Monograph Series.
Puffins are without doubt one of the best and most popular wildlife species of the British Isles. Their comical and colourful faces have earned them the name ‘clowns of the sea’.
These gregarious seabirds spend almost two thirds of the year living out at sea, where they spend their time swimming, diving, feeding and rafting, only returning to shore for the breeding season.
In this book the author uses wonderful insight and amazing photography to reveal how these loveable seabirds live and survive at high altitudes. The book documents their activities during the breeding season and highlights how these birds are being affected by climate change and over fishing. The book also tells you where you can find Atlantic Puffins and offers photo hints and tips on how to capture these photogenic birds.
Heather Angel is a British award-winning wildlife photographer who constantly traverses the globe in search of pictures. She has made many trips to Iceland and Scotland specifically to photograph her favourite seabird – the Puffin. Her passion for nature culminated in a zoology degree at Bristol University. Whilst working as a marine biologist she became hooked on photography and for more than a quarter of a century she has been at the forefront of wildlife photography in Britain.
